Template:Community
Hey Derek, I'm in the process of adding documentation to all of the templates and noticed that you list variables in your 'template documentation' for Template:Community .... there are no variables in this ... do you want me to add some? WikiSysop 10:42, 5 March 2008 (EST)
- Actually I deleted some from the code - they were for Shortcuts and Portals - and forgot to delete that from the doc. I was having trouble getting the table to display properly, and figured we were unlikely to need. I just removed that line from the doc. Feel free to adjust anything in there to bring it in line with all the templates you have been making. --- Toolrest 12:13, 5 March 2008 (EST)
Re-orged templates
Hey Derek, I actually have not been working on the woodbase wiki instance at all. I'm doing all the dev work on another instance at zysman.org. Let me take a look and see if something happened. I did see there was a cpanel update the other evening, but I don't know if they are related. Let me do some investigating.

Things to Do Before Going Public
I think we should delete the crossed out items in the To Do LIst (Wiki related) on the talk page of the portal.
How can the pages noted for Deletion be identified. I could work on those. I looked for a link in Special Pages? Can I go to the template for deletion and see where it links? --stnick 07:31, 3 February 2009 (CST)
- Items on talk pages just get archived, never deleted. As for deleting pages, this requires sysop permission (or similar), something we can discuss when Joel fires up the software updates, but certainly more of us need higher permissions than we have now. You are absolutely right, you see what links to the template, BUT you also have to check that the page really is intended for deletion (ie NOT WikiWOOD:Maintenance templates. I just added some links to WikiWOOD:Maintenance templates to make it easier to find what uses each template. --Toolrest 11:16, 3 February 2009 (CST)
- OK! How do you archive items on talk pages? Do a subpage, as I did with the Sandbox Infobox template? I assumed that the added of the delete template was only a start of the process. Any page would have to be reviewed and information moved; links to it redirected or reworked; and perhaps a look by several people. Two Heads are better than One! <GRIN> Thanks for the links, those are very helpful! --stnick 19:25, 3 February 2009 (CST)
- You got it. Archives go on sub pages, with a link from the top of the talk page. An example on Wikipedia: [1] - there they use Bots to help with routine stuff like that, something we will have to add to Joel's to-do list:) As for deletion, yes we do need to define a process. For the time being most of the pages flagged are emptied already. The only one I would like to leave for further discussion is your Glossary page. If information is to be moved, then the page should have been tagged for a move or a merge (we don't have templates for that yet), if not already done by whoever tagged it in the first place. There is a good summary of how wikipedia deals with this at [2]. Our challenge is to create a system that doesn't become a burden. --Toolrest 06:30, 4 February 2009 (CST)
