How to wikify an article
The wikification process can be done in a few easy steps as follows:
- Find an article to work on from Articles that need to be wikified. It should be relatively easy to wikify an article even if you are not familiar with the subject.
- Check if the article is a copyright violation. There are a few red flags that indicate text was probably illegally copied into WikiWOOD, such as the formatting looks like it has been copied and pasted. The article may be extremely promotional, appears to be professionally written, or the writing style has characteristics of a newspaper or magazine article.
- Check if another article already exists on this subject. New users often do not do this before creating articles, which leads to content forks and duplication. Use the search button at the left of the screen to check for duplicate articles, and create a redirect if necessary.
- Wikify!
- Where appropriate, make links to other articles by putting "[[" and "]]" on either side of relevant words. See Link only when relevant to the context, for guidance on when it is and is not appropriate.
- Format the lead (first section / opening paragraph).
- Arrange section headers as described at WikiWOOD:Layout.
- Add the class="wikitable" tag to plain html tables. Does this work in wikiWOOD?
- Add an Infobox if applicable.
- Add article to at least one appropriate category.
The page is now wikified! However, please remember to
- Remove the wikify template. That will remove it from the list.
- Tag for other problems. If you happen to notice that an article has problems beyond simple formatting and you can't fix it yourself, please add the appropriate maintenance template to the article.
