Writing quality articles is important to WikiWOOD. The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines to help editors achieve this goal.

Article layout and content guidelines
These guidelines provide suggestions for the structure, layout and content of all pages. They are intended to provide some level of continuity throughout WikiWOOD. They will provide editors with ideas for content. They are guidelines, not rules, and improvements to them are welcome. However, guidelines about third parties, such as Biographies and Manufacturers, may contain some rules regarding content that must be adhered to for reasons of privacy, libel and copyright.
Writing style
The Manual of Style, often abbreviated MoS, is a style guide for users that aims to make WikiWOOD easier to read in English. One way of presenting information is often just as good as another, but consistency promotes professionalism, simplicity and greater cohesion in WikiWOOD articles. It provides advise on such things as page titles, headings, capitalization, punctuation, language etc.
Wikification
Wikification is the process of formatting an article so that it complies with a few basic principles of wikis, and a few basic rules and guidelines of WikiWOOD.
Using templates
Templates provide a quick mechanism for adding content to an article in a standard format. This helps maintain a coherent 'look' to pages. Readers quickly become accustomed to the way certain types of information is presented, and it helps them navigate the site and provides a better reading experience.
An example of a template used on this page is the "Main article" text used under some of the sub-headings. It is created with the simple line of code: {{Main|WikiWOOD:Wikification}}
Other types of template are used for maintenance purposes, which flag pages for attention, and infoboxes which present information on certain types of articles using a standardized layout.
